File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Setup Guide

The Data Insight Tool (DIT) to FTP function provides the ability to export DIT reports to an FTP server. The FTP server can be hosted by either Infinite or by your organization. The FTP function allows the choice of using the existing report output methods or use an FTP capability. There are two options to set up Data Insight to FTP. Unless your organization has a dedicated team on site to maintain and support the server, it is recommended that to use the Infinite Hosted method.

  1. Infinite Hosted (sometimes referred to as the Pull Method):

    • Infinite handles all maintenance and upkeep of the server such as number of files, and file sizes.

    • Infinite has the FTP Server so there is no need for your organization to have a server.

    • Infinite purges data after 14 days.

    • Infinite creates and maintains usernames and passwords that follow the Infinite security policy.

      • Infinite provides the site link, username, and password.

      • Your organization accesses the site to retrieve the report.

    • The FTP site hosted by Infinite provides one folder per client. Output format for the file can be CSV, XLSM or .zip file.

    • PGP Encryption of the file is required. Your organization must provide the public PGP key and Key User ID to encrypt.

  2. Client Hosted (sometimes referred to as the Push Method):

    • Your organization has full controls all the FTP files such as number of files, and file sizes.

    • Your organization has the flexibility since they own the server.

    • Your organization handles all maintenance and upkeep of the server.

    • Your organization needs to have an FTP server.

    • Your organization creates and maintains usernames and passwords.

      • Your organization needs to provide the site link, username, and password to Infinite.

      • Infinite uploads reports to the Client site

    • PGP Encryption is recommended. If your organization would like to use PGP Encryption, they must provide the public PGP key and Key User ID.

Setting up DIT to FTP

Your organization needs to open a support ticket to configure the FTP. The support ticket needs to include the request for FTP setup, the option that is selected for the FTP, and any details that are needed such as usernames and passwords if your organization is using the Client Hosted FTP.

Workbench Configuration

Client Settings can only be configured by an Infinite Representative.

  1. To configure the FTP settings, in Workbench, select the Edit Client settings icon.

  2. Select Configure for [Data Insight Tool – Enable FTP].

  3. Configure the FTP settings as needed, and select Test & Save.
